How I Plan My Finances Every Month (Free Printable Included)

๐Ÿงพ How I Plan My Finances Every Month (Free Printable Included)

Managing money might feel overwhelming sometimes. But once you have a simple system in place, it becomes second nature.
Today, I’m sharing exactly how I plan my finances every month — and you can grab a free printable budget tracker to make it even easier!

๐Ÿ”น Step 1: Review My Income Sources

At the start of every month, I sit down and note down all the expected income:

  • Salary or freelancing income

  • Side hustles or small gigs

  • Any passive income (like blog earnings, cashback, etc.)

This gives a clear idea of how much I’m working with before I even think about spending.

๐Ÿ”น Step 2: List My Fixed Expenses

Fixed expenses are the non-negotiables like:

  • Rent

  • Subscriptions (Netflix, Spotify, etc.)

  • EMIs or loan payments

  • Internet bills

I calculate these first because they are mandatory and need to be prioritized.

๐Ÿ”น Step 3: Estimate Variable Expenses

These are expenses that can change month to month:

  • Groceries

  • Eating out

  • Transportation

  • Entertainment

I give myself a realistic budget for each. If I know there’s a birthday or a trip coming up, I adjust it.

๐Ÿ”น Step 4: Automate My Savings ๐Ÿ’ฐ

Before I even spend anything, I automate a part of my income:

  • A portion goes to my savings account automatically via UPI or bank transfer.

  • I treat savings like a bill — it must be paid every month!

๐Ÿ”น Step 5: Track, Reflect, and Adjust

Throughout the month, I check my spending about once a week. It takes 5 minutes but keeps me mindful.
At the end of the month, I reflect:

  • What did I overspend on?

  • Where did I save better than expected?

  • What can I improve next month?
